[…] The mailer instructs people to ‘contact the Glenwood Springs Citizen’s Alliance and ask them why they don’t value women in Glenwood and the Valley.’ […] The mailer was distributed by the Frontier Women’s Job Council, which registered as a nonprofit corporation with the Colorado Secretary of State July 1. McKinney Is Board Chair Of The Glenwood Citizens Alliance, A Citizen Group Opposing The Quarry Expansion

McKinney, Who Is Also President Of The Glenwood Citizens Alliance, Said He Took “Full Responsibility” For His Tweet. “McKinney, president of the Citizen’s Alliance, which organized to fight RMR Industrial’s proposed expansion of the Mid Continent quarry, apologized for using the term. ‘I take full responsibility for using a very sensitive word that I shouldn’t have used,’ McKinney said. I have strong feelings about Trump’s cabinet, but if I had used a different word I don’t think anyone would have noticed,’ he said.” [Glenwood Springs Post Independent07/09/19]

Citizens Alliance Accepted McKinney’s Apology And Unanimously Voted He Remain President. “The Citizen’s Alliance accepted McKinney’s apology and unanimously voted that he remains president. ‘Although we don’t condone the use of this word, the Citizens’ Alliance board accepted the apology,” said Sarah Gordon, Citizens’ Alliance vice president. ‘In a unanimous vote, we upheld McKinney’s position as board president.’ The special vote took place Monday, McKinney said, and the quorum was made up of three women and two men. The Glenwood Citizens Alliance Opposes The Quarry Expansion Due To Concerns Over Impacts To The Environment, Economy And Quality Of Life. “The whole community overall is really opposed to this because it would change the face of Glenwood and has massive visual scarring impacts, some pretty significant environmental impacts, we believe, as well as economic and quality of life impacts for those who visit and love Glenwood Springs,” said Jeff Peterson of the Glenwood Springs Citizens Alliance. Community members also worry the company’s production goal would cause serious pollution problems for the area. “Five million tons a year being mined means we’re talking dust pollution, carbon pollution with 320 to 450 trucks a day coming down the hillside and into the community through the tourist areas of town and being dumped directly at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and the Colorado River,” Peterson said. “Everything from air to water to noise to light to carbon pollution is a real concern.”  [CPR News, 06/18/19]
